Company Rules

The below rules apply to both our in-game guild and our Discord server.

Note: We are an 18+ community. By joining the Crimson Silver Company you are affirming that you’re 18+.

  1. Be respectful to all members. Harassment, trolling, invasion of privacy, discrimination, and slurs aren’t allowed.

  2. This is a safe space for all LGBTQIA+ individuals. We have a zero-tolerance policy for hostile and antagonistic language, so don’t intentionally instigate fights or create drama.

  3. Follow all rules, and respect the council members when they ask you to change your behavior.

  4. Don’t post disturbing images, NSFL or gore in any Company space. Offensive names/avatars aren’t allowed. NSFW content and meme spamming should only be posted in the appropriate places.

  5. While we accept vampires, werewolves, and other less-than-legal characters into the company, we ask that you treat it like what it is: a crime. While some characters (including some members of this company) may be okay with it, it is still illegal. Please keep in mind the gravity of the situation your character is in and treat it with respect.

If at any time you feel these rules, or any of Discord or ZOS’s Terms of Service, have been violated in any channel (voice or text), please contact a council member either by private message or mention on Discord, or in-game whisper. Any information sent in PM or whisper to a council member will be kept in strictest confidence.

Company Structure

Member Ranks and Branches

Both in-character and out-of-character, the Crimson Silver Company is split into two branches. Below are the details on our out-of-character guild branches. Please visit our roleplay page for details on our in-character structure.

Upon joining the guild, a new member will receive the rank of Initiate, both in-game and in our Discord server. From there, they can check out any activities we do and get a feel for our guild, either by requesting an interview with a Champion, Guard, or Council member to start roleplaying with us, or by participating in organized content runs, like dungeons, pledges, trials, etc. From there, they can choose to join one of our branches.

The two main branches of the Crimson Silver Company are Roleplay (which is further subdivided into Investigations and Expeditions) and Content. Players can be in either branch or both branches at the same time, but their ranking in our guild will be determined by the following hierarchy:

  • Roleplay (either Investigations or Expeditions, depending on the IC preference of their main)

    • Discord Rank: Investigator or Expeditioner

    • In-game Rank: Member

  • Content

    • Discord Rank: Field Operative

    • In-game Rank: Member

These ranks are all functionally identical to each other, and merely serve to ensure members of our community get to participate in the content they want to enjoy and not be bombarded by all the other things our guild does.

Officer Ranks

Each of branch promote their own set of Champions, but because our guild is cross-functional (meaning anyone can participate in anything we do, regardless of which branch they prefer), all of our Champions are considered equal regardless of which branch they’re in, meaning the word of a Champion of the roleplay branch carries just as much weight as the word of a Champion in the content branch, even if the Champion is participating in activities outside their branch.

While the specific duties of our officers, and the method to become one, can be found below, here is a brief overview of the officer ranks in the Crimson Silver Company, in increasing level of authority (ending with Council, as the Council are our guild leaders):

  • Champion

    • Roleplay Branch

      • Discord Rank: Expeditions Champion or Investigations Champion

      • In-game Rank: Champion

    • Content Branch

      • Discord Rank: Field Champion

      • In-game Rank: Champion

  • Guard

  • Council

Unlike Champions, Guards and Council members are not tied to a given branch, as they are promoted from the ranks of Champion.

Officers: Champions, Guards, and the Council

Champions: Introduction and Path to Becoming a Champion

Champions in the Crimson Silver Company are members who’ve proven themselves great allies to our company. These are people who have been to a vast majority of our events, frequently go out of their way to promote activity in the Company, and are present both in-game and on our Discord Server.

The first step to becoming a champion is pretty straightforward: be active. The more active you are, the more likely we are to choose you as champion, and things like organizing dungeon or trial runs, running your own RP events, frequently creating art or writing related to the company, or even just being a constant and present voice in the chat can be a reason for you to be selected as a Champion.

Our Champions are promoted based on existing officer or Champion recommendations and voting. To become a Champion, a member of the Council or an existing Champion will nominate you, the existing officers will vote. If the vote passes, we’ll promote you both out-of-character and in-character (if you’re part of the roleplay part of our Company).

Keep in mind: As a social community involved in more than just roleplay, out-of-character qualities are more important than in-character for getting promoted. Even if your character might not make sense for a Champion, if you qualify and want to be one, we will find a way to justify it in-character.

Champion Benefits

Becoming a champion is primarily a reward. It’s a symbol of your participation and the immense help you’ve provided us.

As such, there are no official duties of being a Champion. You could change nothing about what you’re doing and still be one! However, we want to enable the people who want to help to do so, and being a Champion means you have the following additional benefits that allow you to take more responsibility if you want it:

  • As Champion, you are a trusted member of our company. You carry greater weight, both IC and OOC, than others. While you are not expected to make decisions, you have the power to step up and take actions, such as asking users in discord to stay in our rules if they’re straying out of them, bringing ideas and issues to the council for review, and generally being an advisor to the things we do.

  • If you’d like, you can help us be an ambassador for the company, helping us recruit in /zone chat, interviewing new members, suggesting ideas on how we can reach out to the broader community, and more.

  • And last but not least, we trust you and value your presence. You will have full access to our officer chat channel, ability to give your thoughts and feedback on the actions we take, and guide our thinking.

Guards: Introduction and Path to Becoming a Guard

Guards are the Crimson Silver Company’s officers and moderators. They are volunteers who help us keep the community a safe place, organize events and promote participation within the Company, and make decisions on the fly. They have the full backing of the Council to act with authority when needed, both in-character for roleplay and out-of-character across all parts of our community.

The first step to becoming a Guard is straightforward: be a Champion. All Guards are promoted directly from our Champions, as they are our most trusted members. The rest is easy: volunteer to be a guard. If the Council is in need of guards, we will pull from those who have volunteered, based on current activity levels and final council decision.

As with Champions, the only factor in our decision for making someone a Guard is their out-of-character merits. We’ll make everything else work.

Guard Responsibilities

Unlike Champion, Guards have duties we expect them to fill, which is why they operate on a strictly volunteer basis.

In addition the benefits laid out for Champions, the main role of a Guard is to be a moderator, ensuring that rules are followed and that people feel safe and welcome in our community. Additionally, while the Champions can do the things that are listed under benefits, Guards are generally expected to do those things. Therefore, the total responsibilities for a Guard are:

  • As a Guard, you moderate conversations, ensuring rules are followed, chats remain a safe space to be in for all involved, and that people continue respecting our guild rules in all guild activities. You also have the authority to make calls during roleplay should an OOC disagreement arise about how actions are handled. Unless overruled by a Council member, your word is final.

  • You are an ambassador for the company, helping us recruit in /zone chat, interviewing new members, suggesting ideas on how we can reach out to the broader community, and more.

  • You are a critical advisor to the council, and a leader in our officer chat. You will have full access to both our officer and council chat channels, and your advice will be considered and actively requested in all decisions the council makes. While the Council has the final word in any decision, your input is immensely valuable and guides our thinking.

This authority, however, also carries expectations. Guards are held to a higher standard than Champions, and the Council will take reports of abuse of power seriously. Guards are moderators, not gods, and if we find they’ve overstepped their bounds or misused the trust and authority we have placed in them, the Council will take immediate action to demote them, or worse, depending on the severity of the infraction.

Council

The Crimson Silver Company is not a dictatorship. We don’t have a singular guild leader, even if the in-game guild is owned by a single individual. Our community is ran by a Council of founding members, both IC and OOC. Both members of the council carry equal authority, make decisions as a unit, and work together to ensure the guild runs smoothly. Anything said by either council member carries the same authority as if said by the other.

In general, the word of a council member is final, but we do our best to take all perspectives into account and actively seek advice from our community and officers. In most cases, we default to the will of the majority, and strive to only overrule the majority in the most severe of circumstances.

As a general rule of thumb, we won’t promote others to the level of Council, but this may changes as the community grows.
